So... I have actually been sewing a lot! You guys have to check out my new dress. this is the first one I have ever made. I took that Sewing from a Pattern Series at The Stitch Lab here in Austin. It was a lot of fun!
I used New Look 6799. It was inexpensive ($4), and I was able to learn how to gather, put in a zipper, and add buttons. I used a quilting cotton. I don't think I will use a quilting cotton for a dress again, but I just love all of those prints. Why can't they make apparel fabrics in those prints? Is it that hard? COME ON!
I did the waist line and the neckline in a plain polka dot because when I purchased my fabric the sales person didn't give me the right amount. I had to purchase more fabric at Stitch Lab the night we cut our fabric. Good lesson #1: always double check the measurements. (I have gone back to Jo-Anns and they have overcharged me for more fabric than I actually purchased. So always double check!!) It was a serendipitous mistake, because the dress looks even cuter with the contrast!
What do you guys think?
